No comments? Wow. Two of 1999's best along with Matrix and Sixth Sense. Man, that was a great year for movies! As for this particular matchup, give me The Green Mile.

The Green Mile is brutally long, but it's still a well-told story. There's so much about American Beauty that I just find irritating, so The Green Mile is an easy winner here.

These are not compatible. Plain and simple. But which one would I rather watch? Still not applicable. Depends on my mood. As of right now, I would watch The Green Mile over American Beauty. But only barely.

American Beauty's pretty good, but Green Mile is well-produced, condescending, saccharine garbage: The magical negro with an iq of 30, but a heart of gold, solves all the problems of his own goddam prison-guards (coz prisoners LOVE their C.O's...), and then conveniently dies. I am NOT the "OMG!!! Everything is racist!!" "SJW" type; My all-time favourite cartoon short is "Coal Black and de Sebbem Dwarfs", that's been banned from TV/major release since the 80s, for "racist stereotypes"... but it's FUNNY, and has amazing animation, so who cares. I don't dislike Green Mile "because racism"; I dislike it "because DOGSHlT MOVIE", with cardboard cut-outs instead of characters, behaving in ways that make no goddam sense. There are Hallmark Mothers Day cards with more depth, better writing, and less cheeseball sentimentality than Green Mile...
